In honor of this patriotic holiday, we salute these five kid-friendly, educational destinations. There’s a lot to be learned in these cities, with many fun activities along the way for the whole family to enjoy.
Not only are there more patriotic sites to visit in Washington, D.C. than any other city, most activities are free, making this the most family-friendly patriotic destination available. To break up your trips to museums and monuments, why not spend a fun day at Six Flags America?
The Freedom Trail, approximately three miles long and marked by a red line painted on the sidewalk, links sixteen of Boston’s most historic sites, including Paul Revere’s house, Faneuil Hall and the U.S.S. Constitution. Tours of the city are available via land and sea, so there are plenty of opportunities for jam-packed sightseeing. Kids will also love The New England Aquarium on Boston’s waterfront.
Whether you’re a local resident or visiting for the first time, Philadelphia is bursting with must-see patriotic destinations. One fun, easy way to see many of them is the famous Trolly Tour. When you’re finished seeing the historic sites, your family will enjoy the Philadelphia Zoo, Philadelphia Museum of Art, Franklin Institute and Please Touch Museum.
